Large Side-mounted Quartz Sand Filter

The cylinder block is made of glass fiber reinforced plastic winding and molding, which is resistant to wear, corrosion and not easy to deform. The uniquely designed water distributor can evenly stabilize the water flow, and the culvert drainage system is highly efficient. Easy to install, easy to repair and maintain. The turbidity of the effluent is less than 2 degrees.

Large Side-mounted Quartz Sand Filter Principle:

Inside a sand filter, a certain amount of quartz sand is placed, with different particle sizes arranged in layers — from smaller on the top to larger on the bottom. During normal filtration, water enters from the top layer of sand and flows out from the bottom. As water passes through the filter bed, part of the suspended solids in the water are captured by the tiny pores formed in the upper layer of the filter media, through adsorption and mechanical interception. At the same time, the retained suspended particles overlap and interconnect, forming a thin film on the surface of the filter bed, which continues to filter suspended matter in the water. This is known as surface film filtration.

This filtration effect does not only occur at the surface layer; when water flows into the middle layers of the filter bed, interception also occurs. To distinguish it from surface filtration, this effect is called depth (or penetration) filtration.

In addition, because sand particles are densely packed, suspended particles in the water are forced to pass through the winding channels among the sand grains, giving them more chances and time to collide and interact with the surface of the filter media. As a result, suspended matter in the water adheres to the surface of sand grains and flocs, undergoing a contact coagulation process.

In summary, the filtration of a sand filter purifies water through the combined processes of surface film filtration, depth (penetration) filtration, and contact filtration.
